Biography
Dominique Marshall teaches Canadian and Quebec history at Carleton University. She researches the history of poverty and welfare, families and childhood, state formation and political economy, as well as the transnational history of humanitarian aid. She has written about the history of the Canadian welfare state, the history of children's rights and the Child Welfare Committee of the League of Nations. Her book, Aux origines sociales de l'État providence (1998) (available in English as The Social Origins of the Welfare State (2006)) received the Jean-Charles Falardeau Price from the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences.
