Biography

Elisabeth Roehrlich is the Director of the IAEA History Research Project and an assistant professor at the University of Vienna’s Department of History. She is also a Global Fellow in the History and Public Policy Program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington D.C. She received her PhD in history from the University of Tuebingen, Germany, and held fellowships at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington D.C., the Norwegian Institute for Defense Studies in Oslo, and Monash University South Africa in Johannesburg. She is the author of a prize-winning book about the former Austrian chancellor Bruno Kreisky (Kreisky’s Außenpolitik, Vienna University Press, 2009), and her writings on the IAEA have been published or are forthcoming in journals such as the IAEA Bulletin, Cold War History, and the Journal of Cold War Studies. Since 2012, Roehrlich is a full partner of the Nuclear Proliferation International History Project (NPIHP) at the Wilson Center. Dr. Roehrlich is an Associate Editor of the International Security Studies Forum (ISSF) on H-Diplo, a member of the review committee of Austria’s leading contemporary history journal zeitgeschichte, and a member of the Board of Directors of Atomic Reporters.
