Eleanor Davey

Eleanor is a Research Officer in the Humanitarian Policy Group at the Overseas Development Institute (HPG/ODI). A historian by training, prior to joining HPG she completed a DPhil at Queen Mary, University of London, on humanitarianism and revolutionary politics in France during the Cold War. She currently leads HPG's project on A Global History of Modern Humanitarian Action. The project examines the historical and cultural forces affecting humanitarian action since the mid-nineteenth century. It is based on the belief that an improved historical consciousness relating to humanitarian action will help to generate a more informed critical perspective on operations, dialogue and reform.
